As we prepare for the 2010 Winter Olympics coming up soon, once again the world’s attention will be focused on the games.
Believe it or not, figure skating is one of my favorite events. To be able to do those moves on the ice is absolutely amazing. However, doing those moves can sometimes result in some really serious injuries.
This accident took place during the free skate program at Skate America in Pittsburgh, PA in November 2004.
Russian figure skaters Maxim Marinin and Tatiana Totmianina experienced an aweful fall that could’ve been a lot worse. This fall resulted in loads of guilt for Maxim. I can’t blame him though. No matter what, it was him that dropped poor girl.
Just look how she fell…flat on her forehead. She suffered a concussion and of course obvious bruises. However, it’s noted that she did return to skating in about a week or so.
It’s good to know that people can overcome horrific accidents such as this one.
